Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will host finance ministers and economic leaders from around the world, plus heavy-hitting U.S. CEOs, for the G20 Finance Ministerial in historic Asheville, N.C., from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

Why it matters: In America's 250th anniversary year, Bessent will use the summit in the Blue Ridge Mountains to emphasize the resilience of the American spirit — and push his global counterparts to focus on growth and prosperity, showcasing results of President Trump's agenda.

  • The focus on economic growth will be a stark change of tone and topic from climate change, which often dominates global gatherings.

Zoom in: Among the business leaders expected to attend are JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, 3M CEO Bill Brown, Eli Lilly CEO David Ricks, Deere & Co. CEO John May, and Medtronic CEO Geoff Martha, along with other Fortune 500 executives.

  • Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh will co-host. More than 1,000 people are expected, including 200 journalists from dozens of countries.
  • Key MAGA influencers will get access, and Bessent will highlight the Trump administration's continuing work to revitalize western North Carolina after the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024.

Zoom out: Treasury's G20 Finance Ministerial will mark the first of three major U.S.-hosted G20 summits as part of the U.S. presidency of the 2026 G20, which culminates in mid-December with the Leaders' Summit at Trump National Doral in Miami.

  • The State Department will host foreign ministers in Atlanta at the end of October.
