Mets becoming deadline sellers at right time — with a lot likely on table

The Mets’ deadline sale is on now, according to league sources, and they just may be in luck.

And I’m really not kidding about the rare good fortune either.

As a seller — and executives with other teams say the Mets are indeed making calls as a seller now — they might be able to negotiate some decent overpays in the what’s expected to an extreme sellers’ market.

It won’t be completely easy since teams value players similarly now, but compared to the half dozen or so known sellers out there, they have more to dangle than most sellers. And that’s true even if they don’t have one well-priced, totally healthy veteran having a good year nearing the end of his contract to offer.
