    this type of black parenting — which is very much my experience — is pretty much illegible to people outside of the community in part because of (racist) ideas about what black people value and strive for

    the press has gotten completely habituated to the ugly and hateful behavior of the people in this government so i will be surprised if anyone ever asks hegseth why he thinks it is appropriate to mock children for wanting to learn, grow and maybe serve their country

    the idea that the white house belongs to the president is so obviously contrary to the entire history of the building that it is laughable that ANYONE would take it seriously!

    the position a lot of people have is that if you commit a sufficiently large crime and allow time to pass then it just doesn't count, even if the entity that committed the crime is still in existence.

    A corporate entity profiting from the capture, sale and enslavement of human beings is distinct from an individual and asking that corporate entity to take account of its history is not "original sin."

    you could basically predict the direction public opinion under trump if you took the view that a) the 2024 election was about inflation and b) "wokeness" wasn't especially salient nor was it especially unpopular.
