Why would they clean this

I deeply resent this thing where you enter your late 30s and start waking up with pain in some tendon you've never heard of

And then your doctor is like "ah yes, that pain along the outside of your foot is the whatever-the-fuck tendon, did you perhaps trip and wrench it," and you have to admit that you did not trip or play sports or do literally anything except use it to walk

Correct!

I like 1/3 of those things

1. I don't. But since people with colds, covid and other illnesses are constantly out and about, if I don't want to sit by a contagious person in an enclosed space, I can't assume allergies. 2. My fantasy no-contagion car wouldn't ban anyone from public transportation any more than a quiet car does.

If what I'm feeling right now is patience, I'd hate to experience impatience

At least once a week I think about the fact that we had an opportunity to respond to the pandemic with a new societal norm of wearing a mask when you're sick in public, even if you mask in no other circumstance

I moved to a different seat on Amtrak because the woman next to me was blowing her nose so much that she just had a wad of tissues clamped to her face, and now the new woman next to me has taken off her shoes and socks and has her bare foot pressed against the seatback pocket

Why is everybody so gross!

If there can be a quiet car and there can be a no-trucks lane on the highway, I propose a No Contagious People car on the train!!! If you're sick and you must travel and you refuse to wear a mask even while actively infectious, stay out of the No Contagious People car!
